Belgrade Welcomes the World at Specialised Expo 2027

During the 172nd General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) Serbia was elected as the host country of Specialised Expo 2027.

After four rounds of voting, the majority of Member States voted for Serbia’s project to organise the next Specialised Expo in the city of Belgrade under the theme “Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All”, between 15 May and 15 August 2027. In addition to Serbia, the other candidates were the United States (Minnesota), Thailand (Phuket), Spain (Malaga) and Argentina (Bariloche).

Expos are global events that explore a chosen theme through engaging and immersive discoveries. Among the different categories of Expos, Specialised Expos are designed to respond to a precise challenge facing humanity and may take place in the interval between two World Expos – in this case, Osaka Kansai 2025 and Riyadh 2030.

It is expected that Belgrade Expo 2027 will attract more than 100 countries and 10 international organisations, and between 4 and 4.5 million visitors. This major global event will be a pivotal game changer in positioning Serbia as the leading regional business, cultural and creative hub.

Established in 2007, as a department of the National Tourism Organisation of Serbia, the mission of the Serbia Convention Bureau is to develop, market and position Serbia as the leading and fastest-growing meetings and events destination in Southeast Europe.
