The Capital of Science
Trieste won ESOF bid in July 2017, but at that time, it did not have a Conference Center large enough to host such a big event. Nine enterpreneurs decided to offer a state of the art conference center for ESOF2020 that would then be a gift to Trieste for the years to come. This dream has come true and Trieste Convention Center has grown up to 62 members and won the project financing bid launched by the Municipality of Trieste. TCC – Trieste Convention Center is the new Congress Center of Trieste, located in the heart of the city Old Port, one of the most interesting redevelopment areas in Europe.
The EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) is a biennial, pan-European, general science conference dedicated to scientific research and innovation. Each conference aims to deliver stimulating content and lively debate around the latest advancements and discoveries The 9th edition of ESOF will attract thousands of delegates to Trieste, the host city of ESOF2020 and the European City of Science 2020, during the week of the conference. Along side with the Forum, the Science in the City Festival will be held between 27 June and 11 July 2020. ESOF brings together over 4,500 leading thinkers, innovators, policy makers, journalists and educators from more than 90 countries, to discuss current and future breakthroughs in contemporary science.
The new Congress Center is built to host not only the 5,000 expected delegates who will visit ESOF early July, but to welcome all kind of events and congresses thanks to its flexible spaces. The largest Convention Center of North Eastern Italy offers the Auditorium Generali with 1,856 seats and 5 additional meeting rooms as well as 5,000 sqm exhibition spaces and a private parking.
