Renowned Slovenian caterer Jezeršek takes helm of gastronomy at Taggenbrunn Castle

The Slovenian company will expand its presence in Austria

In a strategic move to realign the gastronomic services on offer at Castle Taggenbrunnthe Riedl family, founders and owners of the renowned watch and jewellery company Jacques Lemans, has decided to partner with the esteemed Slovenian company Jezeršek Catering. The experienced Jezeršek team will also take over management of the associated 4-star boutique hotel and event services. A shared commitment to quality, sustainability, and the vision of creating unforgettable culinary experiences is at the core of this partnership between the two family-owned businesses.

Exemplifying exceptional and sustainable cuisine, Jezeršek Catering brings over 40 years of tradition and expertise in catering and event organisation to this partnership. The name Jezeršek is widely known in top Slovenian gastronomy. The family business, which runs the Dvor Jezeršek boutique hotel including the restaurant (Michelin Selected) and the Jezeršek Academy culinary training centre, also manages several other prestigious locations such as the Bled Castle Restaurant, the Bib Gourmand Michelin-awarded restaurant Gostilna na Gradu at Ljubljana Castle, and the Union Brewery Pub. While Jezeršek Catering has already organised numerous international events, the takeover of the gastronomic services and event management at Taggenbrunn marks the company’s first permanent presence on the Austrian market and thus represents a significant milestone in its expansion beyond Slovenia’s borders.

Managing Director Martin Jezeršek expressed his enthusiasm regarding the partnership: “The partnership at Taggenbrunn is both a recognition of our past work and an exciting opportunity to realise our vision of providing the highest quality and driving sustainable development in the gastronomic sector. We are very much looking forward to upholding and continuing tradition together with the Riedl family and to creating exceptional culinary experiences and unforgettable moments for our guests.”

For Alfred Riedl, founder of Jacques Lemans, and his son, Managing Director Andreas Riedl, the involvement of the Jezeršek team of experts is a significant step towards making Castle Taggenbrunn the popular destination it was always meant to be. Alfred Riedl, who acquired the historic castle complex and reopened it 5 years ago after extensive renovation, says: “We are convinced that the combined expertise and creativity of our family businesses will help establish Taggenbrunn as a premier destination for food enthusiasts and culture lovers alike. Relocating the restaurant and café & wine bar into the castle was an important strategic decision that enables us to make the most of the exceptional location and allows guests to enjoy the beautiful view.”

With its concerts and rotating exhibitions by esteemed artists such as André Heller, Taggenbrunn, nestled in the picturesque landscape of Central Carinthia, is not only a popular tourist attraction but also a renowned winery and a unique venue for events and celebrations. In the newly designed castle restaurant, the cosy castle café & wine bar, and the adjoining boutique hotel, guests can now look forward to enjoying reimagined classics from the Alpe-Adria region, all prepared with passion and creativity by Jezeršek Catering.

About Castle Taggenbrunn

As a historical jewel in Central Carinthia, Castle Taggenbrunn is renowned beyond the region’s borders for its top-class cultural events and its wines. The estate, which covers an area of approximately 45 hectares, was acquired by the Riedl family along with the castle in 2011 and, after years of extensive renovation, reopened in 2019 with the Festival Taggenbrunn. The Winery Taggenbrunn, which was founded upon the acquisition of the estate, today produces award-winning wines. Surrounded by the enchanting landscape typical for the Alpe-Adria region, the historic castle boasts a newly designed restaurant, a cosy café & wine bar and the museum “Periods of Time”, featuring an exhibition curated by André Heller as well as a historical part. Serving as the main venue for the Festival Taggenbrunn and other events, a covered concert hall makes up the heart of the complex. Located below the castle, a 4-star boutique hotel and surrounding functional rooms offer an unparalleled setting for events and various celebrations. Under the management of the Riedl family and Jezeršek Catering, Castle Taggenbrunn is a place where wine, cuisine and culture come together in perfect harmony.
