From 14 to 17 June, GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre (GR) hosted Velo-city 2022 Ljubljana, jointly organised by the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF), the GR, the Dekon Company (PCO) and the City of Ljubljana.
The Velo-city 2022 Ljubljana Summit was attended by more than 1,200 participants from 58 countries from Europe, America, the Middle East, Asia, Australia and Africa.
The event chiefly aimed to observe the potential of cycling after the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure the promotion of cycling as a sustainable and healthy means of transport for all. That is why the entire city of Ljubljana has adapted and breathed with cyclists. By implementing numerous measures and activities, the city has improved the conditions for cycling, reflected in the increase in the number of cycling routes. This year, Ljubljana has acquired approximately 20 km of newly marked cycling areas and opened secured bicycle storage for 92 bicycles. In addition, the city introduced a test system for renting electric bicycles and marked the first bicycle street.
GR also supported the entire concept, which took place in the spirit of a cycling meeting scenically. GR even built a dedicated round stage, the largest in Slovenia, in the form of a bicycle. That was complemented by an exhibition of bicycles and a drawn bicycle route that connected the entire event. The Conventa 2022 International Award for the best event in the “B2C” category complemented the positive feedback from all stakeholders and the excellent cooperation between the partners.
