The largest congress centre in Istria poised to open in 2026

The Pical Event Centre will hold up to 1200 attendees

In 2026, one of the most anticipated hotels in Croatia will welcome its first guests. The luxurious Pical Resort Valamar Collection complex, Poreč, will open its doors in early 2026, and will include the Pical Event Center – the largest congress center in Istria, with a capacity of up to 1,200 participants. This new event hub will reedefine business tourism in Istria and the wider region.

A congress centre like Istria has never had before

Pical Event Center will be a strong asset for Valamar in its efforts to extend the tourist season and position Poreč as a year-round destination for business meetings, congresses, incentive trips and social events.

The centre will have one large congress hall with a total capacity of up to 870 people, divisible into three smaller parts and accessible from the outside for car and product launches. In addition, there will be seven modular meeting rooms with movable walls – ideal for different event formats such as workshops, breakout sessions or VIP meetings. There are also lounge areas planned for networking, as well as multi-purpose anterooms for registration, exhibitions or cocktail parties.

Special emphasis will be given on technical equipment – the centre will feature the latest and greatest in AV technology, including stages with LED screens, a simultaneous translation system, high-level acoustics and lighting, as well as top-notch solutions for hybrid and virtual events.

A plethora of facilities

Additional value is provided by the extremely attractive location by the sea and the rich range of facilities in the resort: from numerous restaurants and bars (including a fine dining restaurant and wine bar) to the wellness & spa centre, indoor and outdoor pools, fitness zone, sports fields and exclusive locations for outdoor dinners and events.

With a total investment of 200 million euros, Pical Resort also brings the development of public infrastructure: promenades, bike paths, new beaches and an indoor and outdoor pool that will be available not only to guests but also to local sports clubs and the citizens of Poreč.

“Poreč has been setting standards in tourism for years, and projects like this ensure that we are developing towards a year-round destination where everyone will benefit from tourism, from caterers and entrepreneurs to our athletes and families,” said Mayor Loris Peršurić during a tour of the construction site.

Upon completion of the project, the Pical zone will become an attractive tourist zone in Croatia, but also a vital, living space for the entire local community – 365 days a year.
