#CONVENTAGREEN

At the Slovenian Tourist Board, we strive to develop sustainable, socially, and environmentally responsible tourism in line with national policies. The most critical program in this area is the Slovenian Tourism Green Scheme (STGS), established in 2015.

It is a national program and certification scheme that, under the umbrella brand Slovenia Green, brings together all efforts for sustainable tourism development in Slovenia, providing destinations and providers with concrete tools to assess and improve their sustainability performance. Slovenia Green is a national program and a certification scheme that brings together all efforts for sustainable tourism development in Slovenia, providing destinations and providers with concrete tools to assess and improve their sustainability performance.

As part of the STGS, we are developing a pilot project to reduce food waste from 2023, which aims to establish a tool to measure and reduce food waste in restaurants. The Green and Healthy Office, Slovenia Friendly project is aimed at all employees in the tourism sector. The WTO is also a signatory to the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism. We support the global commitment to halve emissions by 2030 and achieve the Net Zero target as soon as possible before 2050.
