11 exceptional destinations

Although the official Conventa programme concluded yesterday, the event continues with fam trips. This year, a record-breaking 11 exhibitor destinations are participating. Fam trips have become an indispensable part of Conventa, offering participants an in-depth experience of destinations and serving as a rare example of a comprehensively organised extension of a business trade show. All programmes are conducted in accordance with the Conventa Fam Trip Quality Standard, ensuring a top-tier experience for both participants and host destinations. Organisers adhere to the rule that fam trip hosts can only be Conventa exhibitors. Hosts are carefully selected, as an extensive promotional campaign for destinations runs in parallel with the event.

Conventa’s co-founder, Gorazd Čad, emphasised: “The strength of our programme lies in authentic destination experiences or, as we like to say, in the logic of ‘experiencing is believing’. Site visits create significant added value for Conventa, participating destinations and attendees alike. Personal contact with a destination—the sense of place, meeting people and the experience created on site—cannot yet be replaced by any other form of presentation. Our quality standard and more than eighteen years of experience in organising one of the most respected business events in the region also contribute significantly to the outstanding execution of the programmes.”

This year, the Conventa programme has been enhanced with additional post-event fam trips, rounding out the event and enabling participants to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the region. Each fam trip is designed in close cooperation with local tourism organisations and convention bureaux, which are also official Conventa partners and help ensure an authentic, content-rich presentation of their destinations.

Below are the partner destinations hosting fam trips this year, along with their local providers, co-creating a diverse programme that reflects the breadth of the region—from Alpine and spa destinations to urban centres and special venues—and its strong potential to host business events, congresses, and experiences.

Bled, Bohinj, Gorje and Radovljica
In partnership with Bled Convention Bureau, participants will discover one of Europe’s most iconic congress destinations. The programme will combine views of the legendary Lake Bled, the sustainable stories of Bohinj and the authentic local hospitality of rural gems such as Radovljica and Gorje.

Organised by Tourism Kranjska Gora, guests will experience an Alpine fairytale with views of the Julian Alps. The destination is known for its sporting spirit, sustainability orientation and excellent event infrastructure, combining active experiences with pristine nature.

Portorož and Piran
Led by the Portorož Tourist Association, the coastal fam trip will showcase the charm of Istrian hospitality, boutique hotels, and culinary experiences. The focus will be on the Mediterranean lifestyle, Piran’s cultural heritage, and wellness offerings that inspire event organisers seeking a relaxed yet sophisticated energy.

Rimske Toplice and Celje
In cooperation with Rimske Terme and the Municipality of Celje, the programme will offer a balanced blend of history and modernity. Participants will explore Roman heritage, Celje’s unique thermal offering, and the development opportunities in Celje, which is increasingly establishing itself as Slovenia’s boutique meeting destination.

Special venues
Coordination will be led by the Slovenian Convention and Tourism Office, which will present a selection of venues across the country. These venues impress with architectural stories, unique ambience, and creative approaches to event organisation—from wine cellars to artistic spaces.

Ljubljana
The fam trip organised by Visit Ljubljana will reveal why the Slovenian capital is one of Europe’s greenest and most sustainability-oriented destinations. Participants will discover innovative congress venues, urban creativity, and culinary stories that have put Ljubljana on the map as a top destination for business meetings.

Maribor
In cooperation with the Maribor Tourism Board, the programme will take place among vineyard hills and along the Drava River. Maribor boasts a rich cultural heritage, the warmth of its people and a unique energy that inspires event organisers seeking authentic experiences off the beaten track.

Styria (Austria)
Hosted by the Steiermark Convention Bureau, participants will explore the green and gastronomically rich landscapes of Austrian Styria. The region is known for exceptional cuisine, sustainable practices, and innovative venues that create a harmonious connection among nature, tradition, and the modern business world.

Sofia (Bulgaria)
The Sofia fam trip is organised in cooperation with the Sofia Convention Bureau, a Conventa partner, presenting one of the fastest-growing destinations in New Europe, with a dynamic development of its congress and business offering.

Conventa also announced the first event of the year in the Try Before You Buy (TBYB-BG) format, taking place in Belgrade from 11 to 14 March 2025. The event is organised in cooperation with the creative centre Ložionica. The TBYB format, introduced by Conventa in 2017, combines site visits, content-driven experiences, networking and business meetings, offering direct insight into Belgrade’s offer. The event will take place one year before Expo 2027 in Belgrade opens. It will be one of the first opportunities for international buyers to explore the destination’s development and its potential to host major business and international events.

In 2026, Conventa is also planning three additional TBYB events, which will serve as a logical continuation of the Conventa fam trips held outside the main season. The final programme will be published by the end of February.

Conventa is organised by the Slovenian Convention Bureau and Toleranca Marketing agency in cooperation with Tourism Ljubljana, the Slovenian Tourist Board and 21 strategic partners. Learn more here.
