Poland is raising the bar for sustainable events. Four cities—Kraków, Gdańsk, Wrocław and Szczecin—are in the GDS-Index, confirming nationwide commitment to responsible destination management.

Kraków ranked 53rd in 2025 and placed among the Top 3 Most Improved (+12.9%), integrating low-emission transport, responsible venues and zero-waste practices. Gdańsk, in the Index since 2023, climbed 15 places in 2025 and advances carbon tracking through “Go Green with TerGo.” Wrocław debuted with a 44% score and “Green Events Guidelines,” supported by venues like Centennial Hall and Hydropolis. Szczecin shows strong public–private collaboration.

Education drives progress: the Destination Poland Green Academy, by the Poland Convention Bureau and SITE Poland, runs workshops (Bydgoszcz, Kielce, Łódź, Katowice, Lublin, Poznań), plus “Green Talks” and an e-book. Certified venues are multiplying – many Green Key hotels in Kraków and more projects pursuing BREEAM. A milestone arrives 16–18 June 2026, when Szczecin hosts the GDS-Forum.
