Ljubljana Tourism received a Silver Award at the international competition and festival The Golden City Gate, which honours outstanding promotional campaigns and innovative multimedia tools in tourism. The recognition was awarded for the promotional video “Unexpected Ljubljana”. Created for last year’s Tour of Slovenia, the video presents Ljubljana to international audiences through a dynamic narrative that brings together sport, art and a sustainable lifestyle. Filmed at some of the most recognisable locations across Ljubljana and the wider region, it highlights the city’s distinctive blend of cultural heritage, active living and a close connection with nature.

At ITB Berlin, Ljubljana Tourism received the Silver Award in the Art & Culture category for the promotional video “Unexpected Ljubljana.” The video was produced as part of Ljubljana’s activation during the 31st Tour of Slovenia, when the city presented itself to a global audience through the Eurosport broadcast as a destination where sport, world-class art, and a sustainable lifestyle converge. The video was created in collaboration with McCann Ljubljana, a production company.

“Unexpected Ljubljana” features synchronised choreographies performed by ballet dancers and cyclists at various locations connected to UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These range from Ljubljana’s historic city centre with Triple Bridge to the Ljubljana Marshes, including the reconstruction of the prehistoric pile-dwelling settlement Morostig. The video combines scenes of sports, cultural content, and artistic expression, illustrating the connection among the urban environment, nature, and heritage.

ITB Berlin – Internationale Tourismus Börse Berlin is one of the world’s largest international tourism trade fairs aimed at the professional travel industry. Last year, it attracted around 100,000 visitors from across the globe. Ljubljana Tourism also presented itself at the Slovenian exhibition stand at this year’s fair.
