About Conventa
How long has Conventa been on the market?
Conventa has been revolutionising how meeting professionals meet since 2009. It has become the focal point of the B2B event in the New Europe region. Besides sharing a trove of knowledge and experience, Conventa prioritises networking and establishing new business contacts in a relaxed way. Since 2009, the organisers have welcomed 3,799 hosted buyers and 2,086 exhibitors through the doors of Conventa, who conducted 52,563 business meetings.
What is the target market of Conventa?
Conventa aims to connect quality global hosted buyers with the leading regional suppliers, venues and service providers. The project was first established to present the uncharted region of “New Europe” - overlooked countries in Eastern and Southeast Europe. Over the years, however, the Conventa trade show has outgrown its original framework, attracting attendees from around the globe.
Who organises the trade show?
Conventa is organised by the Slovenian Convention Bureau and Toleranca marketing in partnership with Ljubljana Tourism, the Slovenian Tourist Board and over twenty strategic partners.
Why does Conventa take place in Ljubljana?
Ljubljana has emerged as one of the most alluring mid-sized event destinations in Central and Southeast Europe. We believe in creating synergies with local communities, which is why we decided to develop the trade show together with local stakeholders and industry players in Ljubljana and Slovenia.
Who are the media partners of the event?
Every year, we partner with a variety of recognised media outlets in the events industry to shine a spotlight on Conventa as a key meeting point. Past media partners include Event Point International, EventoPlus, THINK MICE, CIM and Mash Media.
Who is the founder of Conventa?
Conventa was co-founded by the Slovenian Convention Bureau, the Slovenian Tourist Board and Toleranca marketing in 2009 to facilitate the development of the meetings industry in Slovenia and connect the region.

Indeed, every year, we host more than 10 media representatives who have the chance to network with the attendees and report on the event.
How many media outlets does Conventa work with?
Conventa partners with more than a dozen media outlets to promote the event across the events world.
What are the requirements to attend as a media representative?
As a media representative, you can get in touch with our media team to arrange a partnership tailored to your preferences.
Does the media programme include site visits and destination tours?
Every year, we craft a bespoke programme for media participants that enables them to experience Ljubljana and other regional destinations first-hand.
What are the obligations of participating media?
We believe in a reciprocal partnership with participating media representatives. In other words, we hope to create synergy with media outlets to jointly promote the Conventa trade show. Media representatives are expected to participate in the media programme and partake in the networking events.
What is the deadline to register as a media participant?
The deadline for establishing a media partnership is two months prior to the trade show.
Hosted Buyers
What are the key hosted buyer markets?
Conventa aims to convene hosted buyers from around the world. Our core market is Central and Western Europe, but many hosted buyers also come from emerging markets.
How many hosted buyers are selected to attend Conventa?
Every year, we handpick 150 to 200 top-tier hosted buyers who come from over 35 countries.
What is Conventa’s policy for selecting hosted buyers?
We adhere to strict criteria when selecting hosted buyers. On average, we accept only 30% of hosted buyer applications based on their quality and potential to organise regional events. We are among a handful of events that pledge to bring a minimum of 70% of new hosted buyers every year. The structure of hosted buyers includes mostly corporate buyers (33.8%), DMC agencies (18.1%), associations (15.6 %) and event agencies (13.1%).

How many suppliers participate in Conventa?
Conventa has always prioritised quality over quantity. That is why we limit the number of exhibitor spots to 130 places. Our mission is to provide an exclusive experience for all attendees, which is why we only select the leading suppliers, venues, service providers and tech companies to join our show.
What is the core market of suppliers?
We aspire to showcase local and regional suppliers from Central, Eastern and Southeast Europe. All suppliers must meet strict criteria.
