The Slovak capital impressed with its energy, accessibility, and unmatched experiences

​For eighteen years, the international trade show Conventa has taken place in Ljubljana. Since 2013, organisers have hosted events at partner destinations in the Try Before You Buy (TBYB) format, combining pre-arranged meetings with authentic destination tours.

​Bratislava hosted the revamped format from 20 to 22 August 2025, bringing together 20 international event organisers from 11 countries with 15 leading Slovakian suppliers. Over three days, attendees experienced Bratislava’s vibrant city life, world-class cuisine, unique venues, and local networking. Many praised the city as an emerging event hub in New Europe.

Gorazd Čad, the co-founder of Conventa, outlined: “Bratislava is a welcome surprise. It has all the infrastructure in place to host the most demanding events. At the same time, it exudes charm, warmth, and authenticity. The Try Before You Buy format allows event organisers to experience that in person and establish genuine business connections needed to drive their business.”

​The programme began on 20 August with arrivals and a welcome reception. Attendees toured the Radisson Blu Carlton Hotel and enjoyed a signature cocktail at the iconic Mirror Bar. The evening concluded with a networking dinner at UFO Restaurant, serving delicious bites and stunning city views.

On the second day, local hosts showed attendees the best of Bratislava. First, they organised an interactive Treasure Hunt that took them across the old town. The first activity was an innovative take on classic teambuilding programmes. Following a hearty meal at the boutique Beigli Hotel & Garden, attendees had the chance to saunter around the imposing Bratislava Castle. In the afternoon, attendees partook in a unique wine tasting in the dark (Tmavá Degustácia), followed by an evening of networking and culinary pampering at the new FACH Restaurant, famed for its contemporary culinary delights. The final day was entirely dedicated to one-to-one business meetings between suppliers and hosted buyers. The event concluded with a networking lunch and departures.

In the heart of Europe

Bratislava amazed attendees with its strategic location right in the heart of Europe, just an hour away from Vienna. The attendees lauded the city’s accessibility and compact size, noting that all main landmarks and venues are easily accessible on foot. The broad range of venues also amazed them – from the monumental castles to modern hotels that offer a diverse setting for any event. Above all, attendees were impressed by the hospitality of locals and superb cuisine.

​The organisers believe Bratislava is bound to become one of the hottest event destinations internationally, thanks to its energy, innovative venues, and seasoned professionals.
